PORTRAIT MINIATURES COLLECTION

The collection of portrait miniatures is one of the largest and most distinguished in the United Kingdom. It ranges in date from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, and is especially strong in the period 1600-1800. Among them are watercolours by Samuel Cooper, John Smart, and Richard Cosway, and enamels by Jean Petitot, Christian Frederick Zincke and Jean-Etienne Liotard.
