An exclusive off-site coach trip and visit for Members of the Ashmolean
Booking is essential
Members are invited to join us at the picturesque Chenies Manor House for a day out. The visit includes a guided tour of the Manor House and grounds, as well as light refreshments on arrival, and lunch.
Built in 1460, and once known as Chenies Palace, both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were visitors to this Manor House, accommodated in a grander wing which has since been demolished. The House was originally a hunting lodge for Edward I, and some original 13th-century features remain, including a Medieval well, dungeon and priest hole. The gardens represent the old style with a sunken court planted with tulip displays in May.
