Photography in the Ashmolean
Visitors to the Ashmolean are welcome to take pictures of the Museum's permanent collections. However photography of our temporary exhibitions or displays is not allowed.
We ask visitors to refrain from using flash photography, and to be aware that photographs are for private noncommercial use. In front of certain displays the “no photography” sign will indicate where permission to take photographs is restricted.
The use of video cameras, monopods and tripods is not permitted.
Visitors can deposit large bags in the cloakroom lockers on Level -1. Smaller rucksacks can be worn on your front.
Visitors may draw in the galleries but please make sure to use dry materials. Please ask our staff for more information.
Visitors may deposit umbrellas in the racks by the front entrance.
Do not touch the objects on display, eat or drink in the galleries or smoke/vape anywhere in the Museum or on the Roof Terrace. This is to protect the objects on display.
