Our invaluable volunteers help make the Ashmolean such an exciting and accessible place to learn. Find out who they are and how to join the team!

Our volunteers are apart of the Joint Museums Volunteer Service who coordinate a large pool of volunteers in public-facing and behind-the-scenes roles across the Ashmolean, the History of Science Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum. They also coordinate volunteers who help at public events at the Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum and the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments.

Most volunteers work with the public; from helping with family-friendly activities to providing information at the welcome desk, and delivering tours and object handling. A small number of volunteers help in a more behind-the-scenes capacity assisting curatorial, administrative or education staff.
