With David Boyd Haycock, art writer and curator

Sir Stanley Spencer grew up in Cookham-on-Thames, Berkshire and this setting became the focus for much of his life's work, with biblical scenes being placed in contemporary scenes of daily life.  His vision was to be shattered by the outbreak of the First World War and his life would take an extraordinary and unexpected course.

David Boyd Haycock, lecturer, writer and curator specialising in 20th-century British art, returns to the Museum this spring for two talks focusing on two leading artists: Gwen John and Stanley Spencer.

This event will be recorded and the recording will be shared with ticketholders following the event.

Tickets are £15 for the in-person event, and £10 for the online event.
