A small number of pieces of furniture are displayed in the Western Art Galleries. Highlights include an elaborately carved Parisian cabinet-on-stand made of ebony and dated 1643, a Florentine pieta dura medal cabinet, the Prioress’s Tale Wardrobe, painted by Edward Burne-Jones and presented to William Morris on his wedding in 1859 and the magnificent Great Bookcase, designed by William Burges and painted by 14 different artist between 1859 and 1862.
