With An Van Camp, curator of the Bruegel to Rubens exhibition and the Ashmolean’s Curator of Northern European Art

Join our curator who will talk about a selection of the Flemish drawings included in our Bruegel to Rubens: Great Flemish Drawings exhibition opening on 23 March.

Sixteenth- and seventeenth-century artists made quick sketches of the world around them, but also created designs in preparation of other artworks. Other drawings were made in their own right, such as for instance contributions drawn in friendship albums, revealing relationships and networks at the time. By exploring how these drawings were used in the artist’s studio and beyond, their function will be revealed.

This event is part of our Making a Mark season of events.
