Artificially improved, brightly coloured faces have always been controversial, whether in portraits or real life, walking a tightrope between smart sophistication and dangerous seduction.

Focusing on prints and drawings from the Western Art Print Room, this talk will explore the connections between cosmetics and artists' materials, which are much closer than you might imagine.
